About

Over the last 15 years, Canadian women’s hockey has made tremendous strides on the competitive international stage - winning five gold medals and three world championships. However, the journey for many players has not been easy. Women's competitive hockey at all levels continues to lack adequate funding.

For every sport, there is a prominent person, a driving force that pushes the sport further. For Woman’s hockey that was Marian “Mern” Coveny –Canada’s first Captain of our national women’s hockey team. She was a star of women’s hockey long before it became an Olympic event.

Sadly, Mern passed away in 2022 and in her honour, we host an annual one-day hockey tournament, with proceeds from the event directed to children who need financial assistance with sport registration fees and equipment costs.

Mern put her heart and soul into the game of hockey. Supporting children and promoting sport participation is something we know Mern would have wanted.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
